Daily Inspiration: Meet Cassandra Pitchford

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Pitchford.

Hi Cassandra, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The journey of Relaxants Candle Co began with my self-care podcast Cassie’s World. The need for self-care became apparent to me through conversations with various listeners who would inquire if I had my own self-care routine that I would be able to share with them. While surveying the needs of a host of different listeners, I realized that candles were the common denominator of most everyone’s already established or idealistic self-care routine, to include my own.

After doing my own research and numerous test runs, I found the perfect recipe for the Relaxants brand. The all-natural, vegan, soy-based candles that we produce were received with positive praise and requests for more scents. So what does Relaxants Candle Co do? We aim to please! We initially only offered two candle scents: Date Night and Glamorous Life. However, we have expanded our selection to include 11 more candle scents, aroma sprays and whipped body butters. We’ve also included a positive affirmation on all candles for daily encouragement.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Candle making is like a science. Finding the perfect recipe was really the hardest part. The trial and error process, as with anything, can become extremely frustrating. Suppliers being shut down, inventory being scarce and the ASTRONOMICAL increase in shipping costs.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I like to think of myself as a creative. I have a podcast, Cassie’s World. Cassie’s World is a lifestyle podcast inspiring you to live a more fulfilling life while prioritizing self-care in the process. I also have a journal line, Visual Expressions. Visual Expressions journals were created to help those in need of an outlet to release their inner thoughts. One thing that I am proud of is the ability to have an impact on others. It’s a rewarding feeling receiving listener letters telling me that my podcast helped someone.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Covid has taught me that even the world shutting down can’t stop me or stop my will to make my dream come true. People are beginning to practice self-care more than ever and realizing the importance of taking care of self before taking care of life.
